The BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is a non-profit organization formed in 1983 and registered with Revenue Canada as a charity since 1985. BCWBS provides support to wheelchair basketball programs throughout British Columbia.
Team Canada still undefeated at the Parapan Am Games
August 11, 2015 The womens team blew by future Olympic host nation Brazil today 82-51. They mounted a 37-4 lead in the first quarter, and Brazil was never able to recover. BC player Janet McLaughlin played an impressive 28:10, and led team scoring with 28 points. They'll be able to rest tomorrow before playing Argentina on the 13th; this will mark their last match before the medal games begin on the 14th. The men were definitely challenged today by Argentina. July 15, 2015 BC Wheelchair Basketball Society, the City of Surrey, Viasport and Wheelchair Basketball Canada are hosting an NCCP Introduction to Competition Coaching Clinic for wheelchair basketball. The Introduction to Competition course is appropriate for entry level coaches who are interested in teaching athletes (both disabled and abled bodied) fundamental wheelchair sport skills in a fun and safe environment and preparing athletes for local and regional competitive opportunities. July 13, 2015 BC Wheelchair Basketball Society thanks Marni Abbott-Peter for her excellent work as our Regional High Performance and Development Coach. During her tenure, Marni led the BC Breakers to their first-ever Canadian Women's Wheelchair Basketball Championships title on home soil, put together a fine group of young athletes to represent Team BC at the 2014 Canada Winter Games in Prince George and made huge strides with the Let's Play program, among many other accomplishments. read more...
