The BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is a non-profit organization formed in 1983 and registered with Revenue Canada as a charity since 1985. BCWBS provides support to wheelchair basketball programs throughout British Columbia.

Vernon Club Hosted the Community Challenge Game

February 12, 2015 Vernon Wheelchair Basketball Club hosted a Community Challenge game at Hillview Elementary school last Thursday evening (Feb 5), with students playing parents. Over 40 people enjoyed trying wheelchair basketball. Prior to the event, about 245 students from grade 1 to 7 at Hillview Elementary in Vernon got to use the sport wheelchairs in the phys ed classes for 4 days. BC Wheelchair Basketball Society Hosts Final Lead-Up Tournament Before the 2015 Canada Winter Games

January 30, 2015 (Burnaby, BC) – With less than three weeks to go until the 2015 Canada Winter Games, Team BC will host Ontario and Alberta in a friendly wheelchair basketball tournament at the Fortius Sport and Health Center this weekend. January 30, 2015 BCWBS is accepting nominations of individuals and/or organizations from the BCWBS member club or region for the Annual BCWBS Awards! The nomination deadline is February 13. The details can be found below. We strongly encourage all BCWBS members to consider nominating persons/organizations from their region to recognize their hard work/generous support. Comox Valley Wheelchair Sports Host Island Skills Day
January 29, 2015 Comox Valley Wheelchair Sports Club hosted an Island Skills Day at the Comox Community Centre on January 24. The club invited other island clubs including Mid-Island and Victoria. BCWBS Regional and High Performance Coach Simon Cass was also invited to run the skills sessions. 20 plus players gathered at the event to learn and work on the fundamental skills. Young Athletes From Across BC Got Together at BC Jr. Challenge Festival in Burnaby

January 25, 2015 The annual BC Wheelchair Basketball Jr. Challenge Festival was held at the Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby on January 24 & 25. More than 25 athletes and 9 coaches from across BC got together and worked on wheelchair basketball skills over the weekend.Canada Games Team BC athletes also attended the festival to prepare for the Canada Winter Games coming up in February. read more...
